FAQs

Can you make the insurance claim for me?

We wish, but your insurance has specific question that only you, the insured, can answer. We can help guide you through the process but after the claim is made we do the rest!

My insurance says I have to take my car to “X” shop, can you still do the work?

A resounding YES! Your insurance uses a third party system that large nationwide brands pay money to in order for these companies to ‘steer’ business their direction. You and only you can decide where your vehicle is worked on. Tell your insurance firmly, “No, I would like to take my car to Lone Pine.”

If I get a chip repair will it be completely invisible?

Yes and no. When you have a rock chip and you get it filled, we are essentially gluing broken glass back together with our professional grade repair tools and resins. Sometimes the rock chips completely disappear and sometimes they are visible and ugly. Unfortunately, it’s not up to us how they look once they are done. Our main goal is to fill the chip so it doesn’t spread and cost you a new windshield.

Can you install an OEM window in my car?

Yes! We only order OEM upon customer request and OEM window wait times can vary based on availability. We also require a deposit be made on all OEM windows as these parts are non returnable.

How long does a windshield replacement take?

The typical windshield installation takes anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours, but the average installation tends to be just over an hour. This all depends on the vehicle, age, condition, and whether a LDWS recalibration is required.

Can I wait while my car is worked on?

Absolutely! We have a waiting room with drinks and snacks available.

Do I need to get my Lane Departure Warning System recalibrated?

We require it if your vehicle has the system. Modern cars have a lot of safety features and this is one of them. This system is based off a camera that is mounted to the windshield. The new windshield comes with the bracket already attached and we transfer the camera over. If this bracket or the new window are installed even a millimeter off from the previous window or bracket the camera can get poor readings and cause a plethora of issues including: warning lights, not functioning properly or at all, expensive electrical repairs, or even cause an accident in the worst case scenario. We take your safety very seriously!

Can I watch the installation or repair process?

As much as we love teaching and informing our customers, our insurance says customers are not allowed in the shop itself. We will take pictures of the process upon request. In the event there are issues from past installations we will take photos of the before and after repairs of the damage.

My windshield is broken, is my car still safe to drive?

Yes. Windshields are comprised of two layers of glass with a layer of lamination in between. It’s rare that both layers of glass are broken and even then, it’s likely fine for a short while. It’s only unsafe if the damage is so severe that you cannot see.
